Wolf admin kept info secret for years, but denies cover-up of L&I bungle
The Wolf administration has denied it covered-up a Labor & Industry error that overcharged thousands of Pennsylvanians millions of dollars in interest. Yet, the administration did not respond to specific questions posed by Spotlight PA on why information regarding the error was kept secret for five years. Meanwhile, Gov. Wolf said he just learned about the problem recently, raising the question of what in the world Wolf knows about what’s going on in his administration. (Remember, he also claimed he didn’t know about his own COVID nursing home policy).
Op-Ed: Taxpayers deserve accountability and transparency
In the wake of the Labor & Industry error noted above, Reps. Seth Grove (York County), Valerie Gaydos (Allegheny County) and Clint Owlett (Tioga, Bradford, and Potter counties) have an op-ed in the Center Square outlining a package of bills they’re working on that would “protect taxpayers and prevent improper payments from occurring in the first place.”
PPE to leave Farm Show Complex by September
After a months-long saga, the state has approved a lease on a facility to store our stockpile of personal protective equipment (PPE), meaning the PPE will no longer be housed at the Farm Show Complex and events at the complex can resume. Taxpayers will pay $3 million per year to rent the facility, the exact location of which is being kept under wraps.
