Pa. is key to battle for U.S. House

TIME Magazine reports that “once again,” Pennsylvania (“the nation’s signature swing state”) “will be a key to this fall’s election cycle.” Specifically, “One of the Democrats’ clearest paths to taking control of the House of Representatives is to flip a handful of vulnerable, Republican-held districts in Pennsylvania. Democrats need to pick up three total seats to gain control of the chamber, and in Pennsylvania there are three toss-up races and a fourth that Democrats see as a possible pick-up.” Indeed, “Pennsylvania has the most toss-up races of any state.”

Op-Ed: Larry Krasner ‘finds out’

Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner is in the national media—and not for anything good. George Washington University Law School Professor Jonathan Turley writes in The Hill that Krasner “is something of a bargain for Philadelphia. According to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, he has not only been serving as the city’s prosecutor but effectively as its top public defender.” A “scathing new opinion” from the court “accuses him of leading a dishonest effort to undermine major criminal cases to engineer new trials for defendants.” Turley writes that Krasner is getting a bit of his own medicine, as he used “F— around and find out” in his 2025 re-election campaign. Well, now he’s on the receiving end.

Scathing words for Dems’ attack on school choice

As Pa. House Democrats work feverishly to gut educational opportunity for Pennsylvania children, Rev. Joshua C. Robertson of The Rock Church in Harrisburg—and also founder and CEO of Black Pastors United for Education—doesn’t mince words in calling out the plan. He writes in Broad + Liberty, “While students of every race would be hurt” by Democrats’ plans to slash tax credit scholarships, “black and brown students would be hurt the worst…. To me, there’s only one word to describe what Harrisburg Democrats are doing: Racist.”

Trump to headline Pa. summit next month

President Trump will be back in Pennsylvania next month to give remarks at the Defense and Innovation Summit, hosted by U.S. Sen. Dave McCormick and scheduled to take place July 14-15 at the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle. PennLive reports that per a statement from McCormick, Trump will speak on July 15 and “unveil investments and partnerships in defense innovation that will create great-paying jobs for Americans across Pennsylvania and the country.” Meanwhile, “The summit’s first day will feature discussions about Pennsylvania’s defense industrial base and how to expand the state’s defense production and innovation.”

Pa. House passes data center-delay bill

The Center Square reports that the state House voted almost unanimously yesterday to allow municipalities to “declare a ‘pause’ of up to 180 days on considering data center proposals.” The bill is one of several pieces of legislation that have been proposed in either the House or Senate. “During debate on the six-month pause bill, multiple speakers from both sides of the aisle acknowledged that data center proposals have become a top constituent concern. Specifically, residents are pushing back against pressure being placed on local governments for quick decisions and against lack of transparency.”
