What midterms mean for Shapiro in 2028
The Washington Post writes that if Gov. Shapiro launches a 2028 presidential bid—as many expect—what happens in the midterms in Pennsylvania “could be a compelling argument not only for his electability but for his ability to carry others over the finish line.” That is, of course, if his endorsed down ballot candidates win. What’s unknown right now, however, “is whether the Democratic base in 2028 will be looking for a Mr. Fix-It whose appeal stretches across party lines, or will move further leftward in its fury at the establishment.” (We’d argue that the “Mr. Fix-It” description is quite a stretch.)
Nearly 52 million kids eligible for scholarships
A new analysis from the American Federation for Children found that approximately 51.7 million children across the country are eligible for the new federal tax credit scholarship program. But nearly 21 million of these children live in states whose governors have not opted into the program, meaning they would be shut out. This includes more than 1.8 million kids in Pennsylvania.
Khanna, Rabb pitch ‘progressive new deal’
If you thought the New Deal was bad, you probably thought the Green New Deal was worse. and if you thought the Green New Deal was worse, you’ll definitely think the Progressive New Deal is even more worse. Yesterday, socialist Pa. state Rep. Chris Rabb—who is running for Congress—welcomed fellow progressive Democrat U.S. Rep Ro Khanna of California to kick off a statewide tour for Khanna, who might run for president. The two pitched a “progressive new deal,” which includes abandoning Israel and siding with antisemites, Medicare for all, a federal jobs guarantee, and more.

Fauci to face Senate committee
This morning, Dr. Anthony Fauci, whose recently released COVID diaries show a man obsessed with himself and willing to lie to the American public, will face the U.S. Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, chaired by Sen. Rand Paul. Fauci’s lawyers have accused Paul of waging a “crusade” against him. But Paul argues the diaries show “a level of dishonesty” that’s “really astounding.” The hearing is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. this morning and will be live streamed here.
