Pa. Dems skeptical of Washington’s influence?
NOTUS reports that as the Left targets congressional races in Pennsylvania, some Democrat voters here “think Democrats have a Washington problem.” Specifically, campaign messages coming from national Dems don’t always jive with what’s most important to local voters. But when it comes to mismatched messaging, some blame the party machine less than Democrat Socialists who, per one party operative, “are throwing a wrench into a coordinated, unified message because they’re more worried about some of those other social issues that we all embrace, but that’s not our No. 1.”
Fetterman explains position change on filibuster
U.S. Sen. John Fetterman writes in a Washington Post op-ed, “It’s not often you hear someone in D.C. admit they were wrong, let alone horribly wrong — and the entire Democratic Party was, including me.” The topic of his admission? Pushing to eliminate the filibuster. “I thought ending the filibuster was necessary to deliver results for working families,” he writes. Now he says that eliminating the filibuster would lead to “a Senate that ignored the voices of the minority and everyday people.”
11 states have passed laws on federal scholarships
Even as over 30 states have signaled their intent to opt into the new federal tax credit scholarship program, eleven states have passed laws specifically related to the program. Our friends at Ballotpedia explain that these state laws address the program in various ways, including by requiring the state to opt in (with some requiring the state to participate every year) or by setting conditions on the use of funds under the program or state participation in the program.” Pennsylvania is noticeably absent from the opt-in list as Gov. Shapiro has refused to state his position. (His silence is all we need to know about whether he prioritizes giving kids educational opportunity.)
Dr. Fauci’s embarrassing diaries
Well if you haven’t been following this yet, here’s the summary. Sen. Rand Paul has released Dr. Anthony Fauci’s COVID-era diaries, which show a self-obsessed man who held very different views from what he presented to the American public during COVID. For example, in the diaries Fauci brags about his influence in shutting down schools and businesses, but he’s since claimed he didn’t push for lockdowns. The Wall Street Journal editorial board notes, however, “The most embarrassing entries relate to Dr. Fauci’s fixation with his own press coverage.” Indeed, while the country was suffering under COVID lockdowns, Fauci was fixated on himself.
Aiming for a trifecta, Pa. Dems have hit the ground
The progressive Pennsylvania Capital-Star reports that according to the Pa. House Democratic Campaign Committee, Dems have “knocked on over 416,000 doors, made over 512,000 calls, and sent over 1.4 million texts in campaign efforts so far this year.” It’s all part of their effort to flip the state Senate and maintain the state House majority in order to gain a governing trifecta this year. And Gov. Shapiro’s massive cash war chest is helping. ”Financial contributions from Shapiro will help Democrats open more offices across the state and continue encouraging constituents to vote.”
