Is Deluzio stumping for others … or himself?
Punchbowl News reports that Democrat U.S. Rep. Chris Deluzio “has crisscrossed Pennsylvania this cycle stumping for Democrats in a state he believes will decide the House majority,” making more than a dozen stops for various candidates. “While Deluzio insists his sole focus is on the 2026 midterms, the race for Pennsylvania’s Senate seat in two years looms large over his campaigning in areas well outside his Pittsburgh-area district.” Indeed, Deluzio is one of several Dems considering a primary challenge to U.S. Sen. John Fetterman in 2028.
Op-Ed: How to empower Pa. families
Writing in RealClear Pennsylvania, Reverend Joshua C. Robertson, founder and CEO of Black Pastors United for Education, backs an idea to give half of education funding directly to parents and “invest the other half in an account that parents would give to their kids when they graduate.” Robertson writes, “The math is simple. But the moral case is even simpler. Parents deserve the freedom and the funding to send their kids to the best possible schools.” For example, if Philly invested just half of the $42,000 spent on every student per year, “every kid would likely enter adulthood with over $300,000 to their name.”
State House to meet in Philly’s Congress Hall
To commemorate America’s 250th birthday, the state House will meet in Philadelphia’s historic Congress Hall on September 9th. The building served as the seat of the U.S. Congress from 1790 to 1800 when Philadelphia was the temporary capital of the new nation. During that time, the U.S. House met on the first floor while the Senate met upstairs.
Game Commission axes deputy game wardens
PoliticsPA reports that the Pennsylvania Game Commission is abruptly ending its Deputy Game Warden Program. This week, “More than 150 deputy wardens were notified in a 1-paragraph email that the program was ending. The email did not specify a reason for the dismissals.” And this isn’t the only program that’s been axed. “PoliticsPA has learned that the deputy program at the Fish and Boat Commission has also been eliminated, ending the employment of 36 waterways conservation officers.”
