And tune in tonight at 7:30 p.m. on PCNTV as Matt joins “On The Issues” to talk about the book. (The program will also be posted here following its on-air debut.)

Which Pa. counties are growing v. shrinking?

Following the release of recent U.S. Census estimates, the Erie Times-News looks at county by county population changes in the commonwealth. From 2024-2025, York County grew the most, with a population change of 3,211, followed by Cumberland, Chester, Montgomery, and Berks. Losing the most folks in this time period was Allegheny County, at -2,139, followed by Westmoreland, Centre, Fayette, and Cambria.

How Dems rely on the ‘dark money’ they pretend to hatey

The Left likes to decry so-called “dark money”—or donations that do not have to be disclosed. But wait, it turns out the Left has become a master of using this money to fund its politics. Don’t take my word for it. The New York Times (never accused of being Right-wing) reports that “a review of new election filings and internal fund-raising documents … shows a stunning increase in the use of these shadowy philanthropic groups to raise money on behalf of candidates in federal elections. This is particularly true among Democrats, who have sharply escalated their reliance on them since 2020, far surpassing Republicans.” We’ve long believed in the importance of private giving in America. But we will also point out the hypocrisy of Democrats who deride it while secretly using it.

‘Virtual learning meets hands-on experience’

PennLive takes a look at how Pennsylvania’s public cyber charter school students engage in in-person career and technical training—from training to be a pilot to learning how to respond to medical emergencies. “Cyber school leaders have had to find creative ways to teach hands-on skills to their students,” the story notes. And, indeed, they are doing so. This, of course, raises the question of why Gov. Shapiro and legislative Democrats are so intent on cutting funding for these public school students.

And five remain …

The Democrat primary field to succeed U.S. Rep. Dwight Evans in Philadelphia has gone from a dozen to just five candidates, with three seen as the top contenders: State Rep. Chris Rabb, State Sen. Sharif Street, and physician Ala Stanford. Still, the Inquirer reports, “it could be anyone’s race.” (The district is a Democrat-shoo in, so whichever Dem wins the primary will win the general.) “For nearly four weeks, Philadelphia voters have seen television ads about only one candidate: Stanford, who has benefited from a massive infusion of spending in her favor by a national super PAC. Street and Rabb can knock on all the doors and hang all the signs they want, but advertising via TV, streaming, radio, and mail is still seen as the most efficient way to reach the largest number of voters.” That said, there are still six weeks until primary election day, and in politics, that’s a timeframe in which anything can happen.
