Trump, McDonald’s, and an apoplectic media

Former President Trump spent the day campaigning in Pa., yesterday, including holding a townhall in Lancaster County, attending the Steelers-Jets game in Pittsburgh, and serving up fries at the drive-thru window of a Bucks County McDonald’s. The latter immediately drew even more attention than Trump usually gets. But left-wing media just couldn’t stand how much his Golden Arches visit resonated with folks. CBS called it a “political stunt.” CNN accused Trump of ‘thrusting’ McDonald’s into the political arena. And the Washington Post called it a “stage-managed campaign stop.” (Because clearly none of Kamala Harris’ appearances have been closely managed at all….)

Shapiro wants Elon Musk investigated

Gov. Josh Shapiro suggested yesterday that “law enforcement could take a look” at Elon Musk’s giveaway of $1 million per day “to a random registered voter who signs a petition circulated by his super PAC ‘in favor of free speech and the right to bear arms,’” NBC reported. Of course, this is the same Josh Shapiro who had no problem with Mark Zuckerberg’s hundreds of millions spent to tip the 2020 election, including funneling grants to Democrat counties. It’s also the same Josh Shapiro who created two dark money groups to fund his inauguration and transition work, who spent taxpayer money on training for partisan left wing influencers, who recently met with Alex Soros, and who referred voters to the dark money-run misleading website vote.pa. Just saying.

Casey channels support for Trump?

In what some are saying is indicative of the unpopularity of Biden/Harris in Pa., incumbent Democrat U.S. Senator Bob Casey recently released an “ad touting his support for Republican Donald Trump’s trade policy and criticizing Democrat Joe Biden’s stance on fracking,” the Delaware Valley Journal reports. The ad, which you can view here, comes as Casey consistently leads in the polls against Republican challenger Dave McCormick, but the margin of that lead has been shrinking.

Threatening letter sent to Trump supporters in collar counties

Broad + Liberty reports that some residents in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery counties, including registered Republicans and those with Trump signs in their yards, recently received an anonymous threatening letter saying, in part, “Your vote for this guy is seen as treading on my rights. You tread on me at your peril, motherf*****.” The letter also said, “Should your candidate win, the consequences will be staggering.” The B+L Editors note, “At this time, it is unknown who is sending these letters, and whether it is an individual or a group, or if the local letters are part of a larger campaign. It is also unknown the political affiliation of the individual or organizations — the letters may be generated from progressives, anti-Trump forces, or even someone attempting to make Trump’s opponents look bad.”

‘Time to retire Pennsylvania’s Alabama

RealClear Pennsylvania Founding Editor Charles McElwee writes in The City Journal that the decades-old description of Pennsylvania as “Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, with Alabama in the middle” has lost any applicability, given “profound demographic and economic changes in recent years.” For example, the regions once described as the southern state now “constitute the East Coast’s inland empire, its economy fueled by health care, logistics, manufacturing, and the life sciences.” McElwee continues, “Over the past eight years, warehouses and hospitals have sprouted up in empty fields. Suburban developments have drawn in young professionals and remote workers. Latinos, with familial links to metro New York, now make up the plurality or even majority in some cities and towns.”
