Several Pa. Democrat U.S. reps were among dozens of Democrats who skipped Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to Congress yesterday. Rep. Madeleine Dean and Chrissy Houlahan also boycotted the speech.

The former history major in me perked up at this story in the Erie Times-News. Amid all the talk of ‘preserving democracy,’ the story asks the question, Are we actually a democracy? Or are we a constitutional republic? The answer has huge (enormous, very big) implications. (i.e. rule by pure majority whim or rule through elected representation according to the law). Grab your pocket Constitution and click here to read the story. (One note: Including this story does not mean I agree with all of its conclusions or perspectives.)
