Nat’l GOP group endorses Dave Sunday for AG
The Republican Attorneys General Association (RAGA) has endorsed York County District Attorney Dave Sunday for Pennsylvania Attorney General. RAGA Chair and Utah AG Sean Reyes stated, “From his previous service in the United States Navy to his time now as an elected prosecutor, Dave has put in the tough work to protect the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the freedoms we all love as Americans. Dave also understands that he cannot do this work alone and I commend the numerous collaborations he’s led with local, state, and federal law enforcement officials to reduce both crime and recidivism in his county.” Thus far, Sunday, along with three Democrats, have announced their candidacies.
Another Dem staffer announces state House bid
Senate Democratic Caucus Executive Director Jesse Monoski announced his candidacy for the 103rd House District seat (Dauphin and Cumberland counties), which is being vacated by Democrat Rep. Patty Kim, who is running for state Senate. Monoski joins three other Democrats seeking the seat, including a House Appropriations Committee staffer.
Dems control Dauphin commissioners board for 1st time in >100 years
PennLive reports, “After vote totals from provisional ballots were added to the unofficial vote count Monday,” Democrats have won their “first majority in the county commissioners office … [in Dauphin County] in more than 100 years.” The story continues, “Until now, Democrats have always been in a race for third place on the board of commissioners in Dauphin County; in the 2023 vote, they went 1st and 3rd.”
Op-Ed: America needs real school choice
Harvard Economics Professor Roland Fryer writes in the Wall Street Journal that thus far, America has seen a “piecemeal” approach to school choice, characterized by charter schools, “partial vouchers,” and the like. He writes that the real need goes beyond this. “The transformation of American education is bringing a more competitive and diverse array of schooling options for students. The most important development is the rapid expansion of education savings accounts….”
Report: Making health care more affordable in Pa.
Our friends at the Commonwealth Foundation have released a report on ways to improve healthcare in the commonwealth. The report “details how Pennsylvania lawmakers can improve health care access and affordability by embracing choice and transparency.” Proposed reforms include removing bureaucratic hurdles and enforcing hospital price transparency rules.
